Pennsylvania Farm Show
Each year the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association erects a display of fresh vegetables at the Pennsylvania Farm Show to showcase the variety of vegetable crops grown in the Commonwealth.
In addition, the Association operates a food booth with the help of 120 volunteers to sell:
-- 7,900 bowls of vegetable soup, chicken corn soup broccoli/cheese soup and chili or about 575 gallons;
-- 250 cases of cauliflower, broccoli, onions and zucchini for batter dipped vegetables;
-- 3,000 blooming onions;
-- 10,800 strawberry drinks;
-- 4,000 pounds of broccoli/cauliflower salad and vegetable pasta salad; and
-- 2,100 dill pickles.
This food booth not only encourages vegetable and berry consumption but also provides funds for the Association to fund vegetable and small fruit research projects.
