Join the Southern Allegheny Establishing Farmer Study Circle Network for an evening focusing on “Joining a Grower Cooperative”. The event will be held April 19th at Friends Farm in Williamsburg, PA from 6:00 to 8:30pm. Discussion points will include the process of joining, and the successes and challenges of marketing your produce through a wholesale cooperative.

This study circle will include an informal discussion over a potluck meal, and will be led by grower Scott Farabaugh. Scott is the owner/operator of Blue Goose Farms. Scott has been producing vegetables for over 15 years, and began operating a CSA on his farm since 2008. Blue Goose Farms is a member of the Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, a farmer owned cooperative of over 30 growers based in Southwest Pennsylvania.

Study circles allow you to learn from experienced farmers and experts, and compare notes with your peers. The meetings are free for farmers and open to all interested persons. We only ask that you bring a few questions related to wholesale marketing, and a small dish to share with the group!

More information on the event can be found at the Penn State Start Farming Events website here.
