Farmers have the chance to market their products at three rest areas on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The farm markets will run April through November at rest areas located at the Allentown Service Plaza, Sideling Hill Service Plaza and New Stanton Service Plaza. Farmers markets are open at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Mondays and holiday weekends, and at 11 a.m. on Fridays and Sundays. They close at dusk. In order to participate, at least half of the sales must be from products grown or made in Pennsylvania; and value-added products cannot exceed 25 percent of sales. There is no fee for farmers to participate. Interested vendors should contact Raechel Pitsikoulis at rpitsikoul@pa.gov or 717.783.8461.
