Robert C. Trax, a PVGA Life Member, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017, just two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Bob was elected to the PVGA Board of Directors in 1989 and served as a director for 20 years until 2009, including two years as President of the Association. He also served for many years on the Board for the Pennsylvania Vegetable Marketing and Research Program. He was awarded the PVGA Annual Award, the Association’s highest honor, and Life Membership in 2008 in recognition of his many years of leadership in the vegetable industry and the Association.
Trax Farm hosted the PVGA summer tour in 1985 as well numerous Penn State Extension field trials and local grower meetings through the years. They also hosted several “Simply Delicious” produce promotional events during the tenure of Secretary of Agriculture Samuel Hayes.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home in Library. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peters Creek Baptist Church in South Park. Further information is available here and here.
