Life Members Donald Daum (L) and Thomas Jurchak (C) with PVGA President James Kohl (R)

Thomas Jurchak retired in January 1995 as the Lackawanna County Extension Director.  Although he wrote a regular column in the Lancaster Farming for dairy farmers, he was also very active in serving the vegetable growers of his area.  He worked with growers and researchers from Penn State to develop the methods, systems and techniques that have made Clarks Summit the greenwrap tomato capital of the state.  He was an active promoter of living mulches and worked at adapting the no-till transplanter developed in Virginia to Pennsylvania conditions.
